Few/little, much/many

Мало, много

С исчисляемыми существительными используются следующие формы:

Few– мало

A few – несколько

Many – много

A lot of – много

Например, many offices, few people, a few forks, a lot of castles.

С неисчисляемыми существительными используются формы:

Little – мало

A little – немного

Much – много

A lot of – много

Например, little water, a little information, much software, a lot of bread.

В утвердительных предложениях употребляются формы, начинающиеся с some (somebody, someone, something).

There is something in this box.I can see somebody (someone) under the bridge.

В вопросительных предложениях употребляются формы, начинающиеся с any (anybody, anyone, anything).

Is there anybody here?

Why don't you learn anything?

В отрицательных предложениях могут использоваться как формы, начинающиеся с any, так и формы, начинающиеся с no.

There isn’t anything interesting downtown.

There is nothing interesting downtown.

There isn’t anyone at the zoo.

There is no-one (nobody) at the zoo.
